In The Return of SUPERMAN, Oh Seung-hwan's son Seo-jun inherited baseball DNA, and Oh Seung-hwan confessed that he hopes his son does not become a closing pitcher.
On the 6th episode of KBS 2TV's The Return of SUPERMAN (hereafter "The Return of SUPERMAN"), "legendary closing pitcher" Oh Seung-hwan appeared with his 35-month-old son Seo-jun.
Earlier, Seo-jun threw the ceremonial first pitch at his father Oh Seung-hwan's retirement ceremony on Sept. 30, 2025. Six months later, after a growth spurt, he attracted attention by accurately throwing to his father with a perfect pitching form that day.
In the studio, Lalala said, "You can't ignore these genes," and Kim Jongmin also marveled, "He seems to have athletic DNA."
Seo-jun, who resembles his father and likes baseball, prompted Oh Seung-hwan to express hopes: "Seo-jun will learn a lot about baseball as he grows, and as a father, those parts are truly admirable and proud. I don't know how he will develop from now on, but he is so pretty and lovable."
Meanwhile, six months after retirement, Oh Seung-hwan visited Lions Park with Seo-jun. Seeing fans who still wore his uniform to cheer, Seo-jun expressed delight, saying, "That's dad."
Oh Seung-hwan said, "Even though it was my first time back at the ballpark since retirement, they wore uniforms with my name on them. It felt good to see Seo-jun react. I felt grateful to the fans, thinking, 'My dad did well anyway.'"
Meanwhile, Oh Seung-hwan watched his juniors' game from the stands with mixed feelings. He said, "Only six months ago I was wearing the same uniform and playing the same game, but after retiring it feels somewhat new and emptier. Only now am I realizing, 'I've retired.' These days I am coming to grips with it."
After the game ended, Oh Seung-hwan laughed toward Seo-jun, "We won thanks to Seo-jun." The two then met active players Kang Min-ho, Choi Hyung-woo, and Goo Ja-uk and had a good time.
Above all, the producers bluntly asked, "Do you hope your son plays baseball?" Oh Seung-hwan candidly replied, "I hope he has the talent and does well, but if he becomes a pitcher, I would tell him not to be a closing pitcher."
He added, "Having been a closing pitcher in the pros for 21 years, I think it's difficult to handle the pressure. I just want Seo-jun to live his life happily."
