The film Wild Sing, which opens on June 3 (provided/distributed by Lotte Entertainment | produced by About Film | directed by Son Jae-gon), released 12 promotional stills depicting the trio's trainee days, heyday and current, pitiful present, provoking fans' excessive immersion.
The released promotional stills vividly portray the tumultuous timeline of Triangle, the once-dominant three-member mixed dance group in the music world. First, the trainee days of Hyun Woo (played by Gang Dong-won), who was chosen solely for his b-boying skills; Sang-goo (played by Um Tae-goo), who dreamed of orthodox hip-hop; and Do-mi (played by Park Ji-hyun), who combined an innocent appearance with a surprising girl-crush charm, capture attention with a fresh and energetic atmosphere.
In the subsequent heyday stills, the three appear in dazzling stage costumes and with perfect harmony, suggesting the peak popularity they enjoyed at the time.
By contrast, the present stills set 20 years later form a stark contrast with the past and foreshadow bittersweet (funny and sad) entertainment. Hyun Woo, now a broadcaster who hustles for a living; Sang-goo, buried in debt after a failed solo album; and Do-mi, transformed into the glamorous daughter-in-law of a chaebol family, spark curiosity about why they embark on a "reckless challenge" again.
In particular, Gang Dong-won's realistic, grounded acting, Um Tae-goo's comic transformation and Park Ji-hyun's elegant yet cool present appearance raise expectations about the actors' range.
Also drawing attention is the appearance of Seong-gon (played by Oh Jung-se), Triangle's eternal rival and perennial runner-up, a ballad singer. Unlike his ear-pleasing boyfriend days when he prayed desperately while waiting for the No. 1 announcement, Seong-gon's reversal current state—living in the mountains with a "man of nature" visual after an unfortunate incident—promises Oh Jung-se's role as the film's scene-stealer.
