"Sold Out Again Today" Park Ye-young draws attention by playing an effective role between work and friendship.
Park Ye-young is starring as home shopping PD Um Seong-mi in the SBS drama Sold Out Again Today (directed by Ahn Jong-yeon / written by Jin Seung-hee / produced by StudioS, Beyond J, Slingshot Studio).
This drama is a seasonal romance delivering the flutter of "present-day sellout"s that unfolds as perfectionist farmer Matthew Lee (aka Mechuri) (Ahn Hyo Seop) and sellout-minded show host Dam Ye-jin (Chae Won-bin) become entangled day and night. Um Seong-mi, played by Park Ye-young, is a reliable friend who stays by Dam Ye-jin's side and, as the ace PD leading hit home shopping, breathes life into the story.
Park Ye-young vividly portrays Seong-mi's fiery and straightforward personality, maximizing her "refreshing charm." From sharp diction to an unwavering tone and precise timing, she perfectly depicts a needed friend and the professionalism of a "work-savvy PD," earning praise.
As the ace PD of a hit home shopping program, Seong-mi displayed seasoned skill by leading the entire process—from script check to directing and communication—during the white flower mushroom farm shoot ahead of the Le Toal Lapin Essence launch. Her attentive supervision of the set, coolness in the face of mistakes, and timely praise reveal Seong-mi's professionalism through flexible leadership.
In addition, the comfortable, genuine friend chemistry with Chae Won-bin adds realistic resonance. Park Ye-young naturally infused worry and affection toward her friend. Seong-mi, worried when Ye-jin cannot be reached, spends the night dozing in the hallway outside her home and, upon seeing Ye-jin, delivers scolding mixed with relief that conveys warmth. The frank and warm way she speaks—"I do it because I'm afraid you'll run out of power. Phone batteries are strongest when they're at 10%, just like you!"—reveals Um Seong-mi's refreshing sincerity.
Consideration is also a major charm of the Seong-mi character—at the evening meal at Deokpung Village hall, she unexpectedly creates a flutter by casually offering seasoned perilla leaves to Gwang-mo (Jo Bokrae). Unlike her usual bold and direct demeanor, the shy tenderness that seeps in raises the character's appeal.
