The group Cortis is creating a fierce whirlwind in the global pop music scene, posting record-breaking results as soon as the new release dropped.
Cortis, which released mini album 2 "GREENGREEN" on the 4th, has shown a remarkable chart climb with the pre-released title track "REDRED(레드레드)." "REDRED" surged to No. 4 on Melon's "Top 100" chart, South Korea's largest music site, as of 11 p.m. on the 5th, setting the team's highest record. It is a remarkable leap compared with entering at No. 98 at the end of last month. The daily chart also settled at No. 17, up nine spots from the previous day, and on Bugs' daily chart it rose 10 spots to No. 3, showing a steady upward trajectory.
The momentum on global charts is even more fierce. According to the latest Billboard charts dated May 9, "REDRED" ranked No. 63 on the Global 200 and No. 31 on the Global (excluding U.S.), and entered the World Digital Song Sales at No. 10, proving its powerful influence. On Spotify's "Daily Top Artists Global" chart, it achieved the feat of debuting at No. 91, the highest rank among K-pop boy groups that debuted in the past five years. "REDRED" jumped an astonishing 45 spots from the previous day to No. 36 on the "Daily Top Songs Global" (2.55 million daily streams) and ranked No. 134 on U.S. charts. On Korean charts, it has defended the top spot for seven consecutive days while placing all tracks from the new release on the charts.
In addition, on Apple Music's "Today's Top 100: Korea" chart, "REDRED" has firmly held No. 1 for 10 consecutive days, and all tracks from the album have charted. On global charts it rose 23 spots from the previous day to land at No. 27. On China's largest music streaming platform QQ Music's daily "rising chart," the track "TNT" from the album took No. 2, and the entire album—"Blue Lips," "Wassup," "ACAI," "REDRED," "YOUNGCREATORCREW"—was evenly positioned in the upper ranks, reflecting strong popularity in the Greater China region.
Above all, the explosive growth in album sales is eye-catching. This mini album 2, which captures exactly what the team aims for, sold a total of 1,196,961 copies on the day of release alone, according to album sales tracker Hanteo Chart. Compared with the previous mini album 1, which took about three months to surpass 1 million copies, Cortis's overwhelming rise in scale is proven by reaching the million-seller mark in just one day.
