Actor Lee Soon-won has been cast in MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama Fifties Professionals (planned by Kwon Seong-chang / directed by Han Dong-hwa / written by Jang Won-seop / produced by Jumbo Film, Studio Dragon).
The first episode airs on the 22nd. Fifties Professionals is the story of three men who once had some renown despite appearing ordinary and are set in motion again by fate; a salty action comedy about true pros who have run through 50% of life, battered by the world and with bodies rusted though their loyalty and instincts remain, starring Shin Ha Kyun, Oh Jung-se, Heo Sung-tae, Kim Sang-kyung, Kim Shin-rock, Kwon Yul, and Lee Hak-ju.
In the much-anticipated Fifties Professionals, Lee Soon-won plays Geum Gang-sik, the right-hand man and number two in the organization to gang boss Yoo In-gu (played by Hyun Bong-sik). Geum Gang-sik is the action captain who leads all the dirty and bad jobs, but when you look closer he is a pitiable character who is pushed around by Yoo In-gu's force. Especially, though he is always bullied by Yoo In-gu, he is a loyalist who will spring up from sleep if his brother says so. This character, Geum Gang-sik, is expected to be brought to life through the performance of Lee Soon-won, an actor renowned for his acting, injecting vitality into the work.
Since debuting in the 2008 play The Man, The Woman, Lee Soon-won has continued active work by appearing in a variety of works including the drama Mr. Sunshine, Nokdu Flower, Search, Black Knight, The Matchmakers, Low Life, the films Fabricated City, The Long Way Home, Rebound, Land of Happiness, Amazon Bullseye, and Hitman 2.
Recently, he also announced his appearance in the film Knife: Godumakhan's Sword. In Knife: Godumakhan's Sword, Lee Soon-won plays Jeok In-geol, the strategist of Seol In-gwi who oversees the overall proceedings of the gladiator tournament. Also, since the 29th of last month he has been meeting audiences with the encore performances of the play Mrs. McCann in Daehangno.
