The official cause of death of Darrell Sheets, a beloved core member of the popular U.S. reality show Storage Wars, has been announced after his death, delivering a heavy shock.
On the 5th (local time), according to foreign media reports including TMZ and Page Six, the Mojave County prosecutor's office in Arizona officially ruled Darrell Sheets' cause of death as a deliberate act. He was 67.
Darrell Sheets was found dead at his Lake Havasu City home at around 2 a.m. on April 22. According to the local police investigation, he was confirmed to have died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
In particular, Rene Nezhoda, a fellow cast member of Storage Wars, claimed that Darrell Sheets had long suffered serious "cyberbullying (online harassment)," sparking controversy. Nezhoda appealed on her social media, saying, "Darrell had recently been posting repeatedly about someone who was harassing and threatening him," and "I hope the police thoroughly investigate this harassment." The Lake Havasu City police also said, "We are aware of the claim and are currently investigating as part of the inquiry."
Tributes from colleagues have continued. Brandi Passante, who was a rival on the show, said, "I am at a loss for words. It is so heartbreaking that he is gone," and added a message of condolence, "If anyone is feeling despair and thinks they are alone right now, please know that you are not." Mary Padian also honored the deceased, saying, "He will be greatly missed."
Darrell Sheets, well known by the nickname "the gambler," was an original cast member of Storage Wars from 2010 to 2023 and gained worldwide popularity. Reports say that just hours before his death he was in his antique shop smiling and taking photos with fans, making the loss even more painful for fans.
Survivors include his longtime partner Kimber Waffel, his son Brandon Sheets, and his daughter Tiffany Sheets.
