Brooklyn "parents manipulated private life for brand image" vs Victoria "organically formed"
Out of contact since May last year.. communicating only through lawyers 'deepening conflict'
Victoria Beckham has finally spoken out about her son Brooklyn Beckham's shocking revelations about her. Victoria recently granted a podcast appearance saying "building a £500 million 'Brand Beckham' empire was never our intention," and emphasized that she was never a 'coercive parent'.
Earlier, Brooklyn announced in January that he would distance himself from his famous family and declared that he was not part of 'Brand Beckham.' He criticized his parents and siblings for performing 'phony' acts for the public and said he had been controlled his whole life by parents who manage the family's narrative through the media, causing a major stir.
In a statement running as long as six pages, Brooklyn revealed, "Our parents tried to ruin my relationship before our wedding, and just before the wedding they pressured me to give up rights to my name and tried to bribe me." He also added that on the wedding day Victoria called him 'evil' and that she hijacked his first dance with his wife Nicola Peltz, embarrassing him.
In response, Victoria flatly denied it, saying, "When I first met David there was never any intention to start a brand," and, "What people call 'Brand Beckham' just happened very organically." She noted that she and her husband David have different business areas and explained that they were simply doing their own work and outsiders labeled it a brand.
She also expressed her beliefs about childrearing. Victoria clarified, "I always wanted to be the best mother I could be and wanted to look after the children," and said, "I simply felt it was part of my job to help the children reach their full potential; it was never coercive but meant to be supportive."
Currently, relations within the family appear to be at their worst. According to reports, Victoria and David have not spoken to their son since Brooklyn skipped his father's 50th birthday party in May last year. Brooklyn and his wife Nicola have asked the Beckhams' legal team to communicate with them only through lawyers.
Meanwhile, amid this conflict the other children are following their own paths within 'Brand Beckham.' Son Cruz is building a music career and touring, and youngest daughter Harper is reportedly set to launch her beauty brand inspired by Korean cosmetics this summer.
