The group BTS has maintained top positions for six consecutive weeks on Billboard's 'Global' charts in the U.S., entering an unstoppable era of long-running success.
On May 5 (local time), according to the latest chart released by U.S. music publication Billboard (May 9 issue), BTS's fifth full-length album ARIRANG's title track SWIM ranked No. 2 on both the Global (excluding U.S.) and Global 200 charts. In particular, on the Global 200 it showed strength by rising one notch from last week, proving its global "growth-oriented popularity."
All 13 vocal tracks on this album ARIRANG simultaneously appeared on both charts for six consecutive weeks, which is notable. This shows that the entire album, rather than a specific song, is being loved evenly by listeners.
The album ARIRANG ranked No. 5 on the main album chart Billboard 200, maintaining a top-five position for six consecutive weeks. Earlier, the record became the first by a Korean singer to spend three consecutive weeks at No. 1 on that chart. The title track SWIM also succeeded in charting for a sixth week, placing No. 32 on the main song chart Hot 100.
Looking at detailed indicators, one can further feel BTS's widespread influence. ARIRANG recorded No. 4 on Top Album Sales and No. 5 on Vinyl Albums, and SWIM posted balanced results on radio broadcast indicators, ranking No. 12 on Pop Airplay and No. 24 on Radio Songs.
The resurgence of a 'past hit' also draws attention: Pied Piper, released in 2017 and recently performed at the Tampa show of the world tour, made a surprise re-entry at No. 9 on World Digital Song Sales. A single performance sent charts around the world buzzing, confirming BTS's formidable influence once again.
BTS is currently meeting local fans through the North American tour BTS world tour "ARIRANG" in North America. <
