K-pop stars once again proved their global influence as they splendidly adorned the red carpet of the world's biggest fashion festival, the Met Gala.
On the 5th (local time), the Daily Mail focused its coverage on the Met Gala activities of K-pop stars such as Blackpink and aespa. The 2026 Met Gala, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, was attended by group Blackpink and aespa as well as the leading actors of "K-pop Demon Hunters," who lit up the event. In line with this year's theme, "Costume Art," and the dress code, "Fashion Is Art," the stars drew the attention of the global press in dazzling haute couture outfits adorned with crystals and jewels.
- aespa Karina·Ningning, successful Met Gala debut
Karina: Karina, a Prada ambassador, attended the Met Gala for the first time. She chose a simple white satin gown with crystal floral embroidery on the straps and neckline, and added a chic touch with an oversized black coat draped over her shoulders. A neat bun hairstyle and violet gemstone earrings amplified her elegance.
Ningning: Ningning, recently named a global ambassador for Gucci, also made her debut appearance. She appeared in a custom black Gucci gown featuring subtle crystal embellishments, leaving a strong impression with dramatic black ruffle details.
- Blackpink, together and apart, dominate the red carpet
Lisa: Returning to the Met Gala after last year, Lisa presented her most daring style yet. She wore a body-hugging white crystal dress with a matching veil, and decorated parts of her hands and face with crystals to showcase an artistic sensibility.
Rosé: True to her role as a muse for Saint Laurent, Rosé chose a signature black dress. With an ornate jewel bird embellishment on the hip and a bold thigh slit in a structured silhouette, she displayed the persona of the "human Saint Laurent."
Jisoo: Jisoo, a Dior ambassador, exemplified classical elegance in an off-shoulder floral dress blending pale pink and violet hues.
Jennie: Jennie, a long-time Chanel ambassador, surprised expectations this year by pairing a blue sequin gown with silver pumps for a distinctive transformation.
- Lee Jae inspired by the Joseon dynasty & Ahn Hyo Seop
Lee Jae: Lee Jae, a star of "K-pop Demon Hunters," made a glamorous entrance in a silver column gown by Swarovski. He said, "I was inspired by the appearance of gisaeng from the Joseon dynasty" and added, "I wanted to express elements of Korean culture on the biggest night in fashion."
Ahn Hyo Seop: Ahn Hyo Seop, who walked the red carpet with Jisoo, drew the crowd's attention with his warm visuals.
The 2026 Met Gala was co-chaired by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams, and carried special significance as the first major event held after Anna Wintour stepped down from her role as Vogue editor. The "Costume Art" exhibition runs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from the 10th through January next year.
