Actor Kim Seon-ho made his first public appearance after completing additional payment of personal income tax on top of the corporate tax he had already paid.
On the 6th, a press conference for Coupang Play's new variety show 'Bonjour Bakery' was held at the Myeongdong Community House in Jung-gu, Seoul.
'Bonjour Bakery' is a healing baking variety show set in the country's first 'senior dessert cafe,' which opened in a quiet rural village, where elders who know the taste of life and the bakery family who know the taste of happiness share sweet consolation and warmth. Through the unique concept of a 'yes senior zone' cafe that only allows entrance to elders aged 65 and over and their companions, it will offer fresh fun and warm connections not seen before.
Kim Seon-ho appears as a 'barista' and shows the qualities of the 'nation's grandson.' With his kindly smile and friendly reactions, he is expected to melt the elders' hearts and deliver happiness in a fragrant cup of coffee.
This press conference drew attention particularly because it was the first event Kim Seon-ho attended after explaining and apologizing for the tax evasion controversy. Earlier, in January 2024 a separate corporation was established at his residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, under the pretext of performance planning; analysis suggested this corporation resembled a special purpose company for management and income distribution. Circumstances were found in which salaries were paid to his parents through the corporate account and then those amounts were returned, or corporate cards were used for personal living expenses or entertainment expenses.
Kim Seon-ho's side said, "The one-person corporation in the past was established for theater production and theater-related activities, and it was never a company set up with the deliberate purpose of tax avoidance or tax evasion. It is currently undergoing closure procedures," and added that he has completed additional payment of personal income tax in addition to the corporate tax already paid.
At his first public appearance, Kim Seon-ho said, "It is a program where we give healing to elders and receive healing, so I took it on earnestly. Since we were trying to give them healing, the elders are the protagonists, so we worked to make them feel happy. I did my best, and I took it on happily and even more diligently."
Writer Kim Ran-ju said, "They were hesitant at first, wondering if elders could come in, but Kim Seon-ho approached them a lot. He kept greeting them and moving around, so the elders came in over the low threshold," she said. Kim Hee-ae said, "His image is like a herbivore man, but when he worked there was ?? vigor. There was a reversal," she said.
Coupang Play's new variety show 'Bonjour Bakery' will be released at 4 p.m. on the 8th.
