Singer Eric Nam shared his recent status after a long time and spoke candidly about his activities in the United States and his future ambitions.
In a video titled 'Meeting Eric Nam on the street and suddenly starting busking' recently released on the YouTube channel J Cut, he appeared in a welcoming manner, sang himself and communicated with fans.
In the video, when J asked, "What have you been up to these days?," Eric Nam said, "I have a lot going on, I'm busy. When I open my eyes I think about how to spend the day," describing a nonstop daily life.
About his current activities he explained, "I'm doing a variety show in the United States called 'The Traitors.' It's a program like the mafia game; last year it won six Emmys and appeared in a Super Bowl commercial." He added, "I heard a Korean version is being produced, and I heard senior Cha Seung-won will appear as the MC," expressing anticipation.
In particular he said, "These days even people in the U.S. who don't know K-pop well recognize me," and added, "I'm not boasting, it's really surprising. I wonder how I got here," expressing honest feelings. He then added, "I'm grateful and feel blessed that I can still do this work."
Eric Nam described his roles as "MC, singer, entrepreneur," and revealed his future plans. He said, "I'm preparing to produce films, and I want to create content where Asian entertainers gather on an island to play the mafia game," showing his willingness to take on new challenges.
He also reflected on the elevated status of K-pop, mentioning Psy and BTS. Eric Nam said, "I think about what more I can do for others," and expressed his conviction: "Because there are not many Asian American stars, we need to be more active to break down racism and stereotypes."
Recalling being selected by Time in 2023, he emphasized, "I feel the importance of precedent. I want to pave the way for the next generation."
He continues his music activities as well. He said, "While preparing a new album I wrote about 80 songs," sharing behind-the-scenes of his work. Finally, Eric Nam said, "It's fun when you accomplish something people say you can't do," and added, "Whether it's music or content, enjoying the process rather than the result is important. If you like it, you can keep learning and moving forward."
Having previously revealed that he stopped activities after experiencing panic disorder and paralysis symptoms following his activities in Korea, Eric Nam is expanding his activities on the global stage. His candid confession and challenges are once again raising new expectations.
