Comedian Yang Sang-guk candidly revealed his true feelings about rating evaluations by a matchmaking company.
On the 4th episode of TV CHOSUN's Chosun's lover, Yang Sang-guk visited a matchmaking company.
That day Yang Sang-guk said, "I came because I want to get married," explaining his reason for grants to appear on the program. Then, expressing curiosity about the matchmaking company's system, he directly asked, "Do I also get a rating?" In response, the matchmaking company's representative said coldly, "Don't take it personally. It's a low rating. sixth grade, effectively last place." He cited academic background and job stability as a freelancer as the reasons, explaining, "This is not dating but matchmaking. There are not many people looking for these conditions."
At the unexpected result, Yang Sang-guk showed a bewildered look, saying, "I'll just go. Isn't sixth grade too harsh?" and could not hide his shock, saying, "It feels like I dropped too sharply." When the representative said, "It's not something to take personally," Yang Sang-guk responded calmly, saying, "I'm not offended. Viewers were probably curious too." But another criterion was revealed in the following explanation.
The representative added, "We also look at family background. Parents' occupations are an important factor," and Yang Sang-guk caught attention by expressing his belief, saying, "My family environment was good. Isn't a harmonious household the top?"
In an interview with the production team, Yang Sang-guk also poured out his sincere feelings about marriage. He said, "When my father was alive he treated the family very well. Seeing that made me think I want to get married too," and said, "I want to be a good father." He went on, "I'm sorry I couldn't show my father a daughter-in-law. It's regrettable that I couldn't show the person I marry the father who was so good," conveying his heavy emotions.
On the surface he said, "I don't care about the sixth grade," but Yang Sang-guk also revealed bittersweet feelings, saying, "I don't understand why people are graded."
Even so, he did not lose his trademark humor. He joked, "Since it's come to this, let's make a crew of fourth, fifth and sixth grades. A '666 member' would be funny," and hearing this, Choi Seong Kook replied, "You hold a grudge," drawing laughter. Viewers are sympathizing with Yang Sang-guk's struggle between harsh reality and personal values.
