My Little Old Boy singer Kangnam shared the untold story of passing the Korean naturalization test after five failures, finally succeeding after six attempts and seven tries.
On the 3rd, the SBS show My Little Old Boy (hereafter 'My Little Old Boy') aired an episode featuring Kangnam as a guest.
Kangnam appeared noticeably thinner, drawing admiration from the mothers' panel. He said, "I once weighed up to 90kg and lost 20kg," indicating he has successfully dieted.
After losing weight, the way his wife, Lee Sang-hwa, treats him changed completely. Kangnam said, "She treats me so much more lovingly after I lost weight. Before, she treated me like a senior at the gym, but now she treats me like a baby," and joked, "Husbands in Action must make an effort, too," drawing laughter.
Kangnam then recounted his difficult attempts at the Korean naturalization test. He said, "I failed many times. I shouldn't have failed six times, but I passed on the sixth," and mentioned the 'four major holidays' question that even Koreans find difficult. He recalled that the correct answers were "Seollal, Chuseok, Dano, Hansik" and looked back on becoming a 'Korean-American' after six attempts and seven tries.
There were also unexpected advantages after naturalization. Regarding the benefits of becoming Korean, Kangnam said, "You can go to Japan's Don Quijote and get duty-free. With a 10% discount, isn't that a big deal?" showing a practical side by noting the benefits he receives as a foreign tourist when shopping in Japan and prompting laughter again.
