The group Cortis has finally returned with the new song "TNT," packed with explosive energy.
Cortis released all tracks from mini album 2 "GREENGREEN" on various online music sites at 6 p.m. on the 4th, and simultaneously opened the music video for the track "TNT" on their agency HYBE Labels' YouTube channel.
"TNT," one of the key tracks of this new release, is a song that combines an addictive melody with rough sound and fully captures in its lyrics the members' hot sweat and passion as they unleash their musical potential in the studio and practice room. In particular, all five members took a leading role from planning to directing the music video, even creating storyboard videos themselves before the main production, and were credited as co-directors.
The music video, which started from the members' ideas, resembles an action movie. A chance encounter with residents that begins in an alleyway escalates into a large-scale crowd chase involving some 500 extras, delivering a thrilling intensity that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats throughout the viewing.
The camcorder-angle footage with a rough texture—showing multiunit dwellings, neighborhood shops, school playgrounds and other distinctly Korean, realistic backdrops—combined with the unrealistic situation of a massive sprinting sequence creates a strange sense of dislocation. Even amid the fast-paced development, Cortis's signature playful humor is preserved, from the popping snack machine timed to the lyrics to the "Dongmyo outlet" sign reflecting the members' vintage tastes.
Cortis, who launched their comeback with a spectacular opening salvo, will hold the "GREENGREEN Release Party" at S Factory in Seoul at 8 p.m. today (the 4th) and will premiere live stages of new songs including "TNT." Then, at 9 p.m. on the following day, the 5th, they will additionally post a "TNT" conceptual performance film on their official YouTube channel that allows viewers to glimpse the choreography details the members helped create, continuing the hot buzz.
