Singer Soyou opened the first installment of the new web variety show "Wolgan Daum."
On the 30th, the first episode of the healing music variety show "Wolgan Daum," produced by portal Daum, was released, and Soyou appeared as a guest.
Wolgan Daum is a music web variety show that combines everyday small stories with vocal-centered music, under the concept of "removing the noise of the complicated world and leaving only the voice," where artists share small stories and are scheduled to present vocal-centered performances filled with emotion.
MC singer HYNN (Park Hye-won) hosted the show, and Soyou appeared as the first-episode guest and shared a variety of stories. First, Park Hye-won welcomed Soyou by passionately singing Sistar's "Give It To Me."
She said, "I'm so nervous and I don't even know what to do. Still, thankfully, the senior is rich in this kind of content, so even though I'm the MC, I'm leaning on them. Please take care of me," expressing her feelings about her MC debut.
Also, Soyou performed the title track "Girl" from her recently released third EP "Off Hours" live, and introduced the song, saying, "I wondered what coolness is. Recognizing that I'm not cool is the real coolness."
That day, Park Hye-won and Soyou listened to a medley of Soyou's representative OSTs and duets and revealed various behind-the-scenes stories related to the songs. Known as the "OST goddess," Soyou explained her criteria for choosing OSTs: "If an actor I like appears, I want to do it. I really like senior Kong Hyojin. I imagine it. I picture how and in which scene the song I sang would be used. If that picture forms, I do it. These days, because there is a lot of preproduction, most of the time they send the synopsis altogether."
When she sang "Stupid in love," which she sang with Mad Clown, Soyou, who had broken up with her boyfriend at the time, said, "I broke up with my boyfriend and sang this song, but I got overly immersed in the emotions and cried. It was so sad. I cried for about 30 minutes. If you listen closely, my voice is really nasal," and laughed, saying, "When I cry while singing, the song becomes a hit. I cried during Loving U and I cried during 'Give It To Me' too. So these days, if tears don't come, I wonder if I should poke myself to make myself cry."
She said she also cried when singing "Some (Feat. Lil Boi of Geeks)," adding, "This song, including the music video, was released within 14 days. We all said the same thing. We thought it wouldn't do well. At that time, the songs all had complete arcs. We never even thought about being number one. I didn't know, but I heard the word 'some' became trendy because of us."
Meanwhile, Wolgan Daum is released on the Daum Entertainment tab within portal Daum at 7 p.m. on the last Thursday of every month.
