Hollywood actor and director Olivia Wilde responded to appearance-based mocking directed at her with a cheerful yet confident attitude.
People reported on the 3rd (local time) that Olivia Wilde spoke out after sharing on her social media a video comparing her appearance in a recently viral interview clip to the character Gollum from the film The Lord of the Rings.
The controversy began in April when an interview video of Olivia Wilde at the San Francisco International Film Festival in the United States was released. In the video, she appeared at a somewhat unfamiliar angle and with visuals that prompted internet users to bombard her with mocking comments such as "It looks like she found the One Ring" and "The cameraman might be an anti-fan."
In a video filmed with her younger brother Charlie Coxbourne, Wilde joked, "That was because of a fisheye lens. I admit it wasn't the best angle of my life. It was truly a shocking image," and confronted the issue head-on. She added, "I don't know why I was so close to the camera. I'm not dead," turning malicious rumors about her into laughter and showing a magnanimous side.
Meanwhile, Wilde is once again proving her abilities as a director with her third directorial film, The Invite.
