'Jun Hyun-moo plan 3' former baseball player Hwang Jae-gyun revealed his changed daily life after retirement and naturally disclosed his recent situation after his divorce.
On the 1st broadcast of MBN 'Jun Hyun-moo plan season 3', MC Jun Hyun-moo introduced Hwang Jae-gyun as "a friend who is full of enthusiasm for variety shows." In his fourth month of retirement, he appeared noticeably lighter.
That day, when Jun Hyun-moo asked, "Please tell me about good restaurants at ballparks," Hwang Jae-gyun said, "I don't often go to Jamsil or Gocheok," and rattled off a nationwide list of popular restaurants such as Daegu gopchang jeongol, Daejeon beef soup, and Busan tteokbokki, showing that he quickly adapted to "mukbang variety" shows.
A conversation about lifestyle in particular drew attention. When Hwang Jae-gyun said, "I like the city," Jun Hyun-moo joked, "It's the difference between married and single. Jae-gyun needs to meet someone again," and a scene was captured in which Hwang Jae-gyun momentarily failed to control his expression, drawing laughter.
Filming was not smooth. The three repeatedly failed to secure a restaurant in Mungyeong, North Gyeongsang, and hit obstacles to the point where they said, "Today is messed up" and "Should we take the bus back to Seoul?" In the end, after 18 hours they entered a barbecue restaurant and were able to eat dramatically.
One remark by Hwang Jae-gyun caught during this process was significant. Looking at the bus ticket for the Dongseoul-bound bus at Mungyeong bus terminal, he said, "It's the direction of my home."
Earlier, Hwang Jae-gyun married Ji-yeon in 2022 and set up a newlywed home at Signiel in Jamsil, Seoul, but they agreed to divorce in October 2024. It is known that he left that house afterward, and his remark "I don't often go to Jamsil" combined with the comment "the Dongseoul direction is toward my home" has drawn attention to his changed living area.
Meanwhile, his reason for retirement was revealed on that day's broadcast. Hwang Jae-gyun said, "I felt my form was dropping. If I continued for one to two more years, I thought I would be pushed out," adding, "I wanted to finish in the first team rather than end lonely." He went on to say, "If I had continued, I might have earned a higher salary, but ending honorably was more important to me."
After going through the major changes of divorce and retirement, Hwang Jae-gyun is finding a new direction in life. Attention is focusing on his next moves after leaving Jamsil.
