A versatile actor who excelled across genres, the late Park Dong-bin, a "refined actor," has passed away.
On the 1st at 8:30 a.m., a funeral procession for the late Park Dong-bin will be held at the Donmin Funeral Hall in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province.
The late Park Dong-bin was found dead at about 4:25 p.m. on the 29th of last month in a restaurant inside a shopping complex in Jangan-dong, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province. He was 56.
According to police, an acquaintance found the late Park Dong-bin dead and reported it to police, and the restaurant was known to be a place where the deceased was preparing to open a business. There were no signs of criminal suspicion, and no notes or other items that could clarify the circumstances were found.
The late Park Dong-bin, who debuted in 1996 in Kang Je-gyu's "The Gingko Bed," met audiences through films such as "Shiri," "It Can Be Done," "Danjeokbi Yeonsu," "Theater," "Why Do I Want to Be a Boxing Referee?", "Volcano High," "The Dance Begins," "Cheonnyeonho," Taegukgi: Brotherhood Of War, "My Man's Romance," "Beauty of Joseon Samchongsah," and "Mission: Steal the Top Star."
In television, he first met viewers with "The Age of Wanderers," and appeared in "The Saint and the Witch," "2004 Human Market," "Immortal Admiral Yi Sun-sin," "The Daughters of Mr. Kim," Dae Joyeong, "Blue Fish," "The King and I," "Sungkyunkwan Scandal," "The Great King Gwanggaeto," "Middle-aged Detective Kim Jeong-il," "Warrior," "I Think I Loved," "All About Kimchi," "Gap-dong," "Reset," "The Great Wife Jo Gang Ji Cheo," "Revenge Note 2," "Secret Royal Inspector: Joseon Secret Investigation Unit," Cafe Minamdang, Behind Every Star, "Heaven's Fate," "Brave and Courageous Yong Soo-jung," and The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun.
What particularly made him known to the public was the Dongdaemun gang "Doksa" character in "The Age of Wanderers" and the scene in "I Think I Loved" in which he spit out a juice he had been shocked to learn was "Yena Seonjeong's daughter." In this way, the late Park Dong-bin was a scene-stealer, a supporting flavor, and a "refined actor" who captured the public's attention across media and genres.
To his family he was a warm husband and father. The late Park Dong-bin, who married actress Lee Sang Yi, whom he met through "Enemies in a Previous Life," in 2020, had one daughter. In 2024 he appeared on "Oh Eun-young's Golden Counseling Center" and revealed that his daughter underwent heart surgery immediately after birth, receiving much support and consolation, and on his wife Lee Sang Yi's social media he was shown as a friendly, almost friendlike father who lovingly played with the daughter born to them at a later age.
Alongside his acting career, the late Park Dong-bin hustled to provide for his family by opening a restaurant, and his being found dead at the restaurant he was about to open has elicited deep sorrow. The wave of mourning for the late Park Dong-bin, who has gone to rest, continues.
