Cha Hak-yeon and Gongwon's duet for the Coupang Play series "Romance's Absolute Value" OST Part.3 "Why this night" will be released today (the 1st) at 6 p.m. on various music sites.
"Why this night" is a dreamlike ballad that lyrically unfolds the moment of slowly facing hidden emotions. The delicate vocals of Cha Hak-yeon and Gongwon layered over the calm melody ultimately portray, in a restrained way, the story of wanting to be honest and the growth and confessions until accepting that feeling, completing the characters' emotional lines more deeply.
In particular, Cha Hak-yeon, who appears in the role of Ga Woo-su, a Mensa member with an IQ of 156 and a math teacher in the drama, and singer Gongwon, who is unfolding his own musical world with a soft yet compelling tone as if holding air, form a duet to create an emotional synergy. The different charms of each vocal are expected to blend to build the texture of emotion more densely and heighten immersion.
In addition, Viola, an artist belonging to Studio MamuC, known as the "OST house," wrote the lyrics and composed the song to raise its completeness. Naiv, who participated in composing the OSTs "Just Being" from "Twenty Five Twenty One", "Does this love get translated?" and the composition of "Promise," also participated in the arrangement to realize a refined sound.
Studio MamuC, which produced the "Romance's Absolute Value" OST, earlier demonstrated a wide genre spectrum by covering intense band sounds and trendy, bright sensibilities through Part.1 "Real Fantasy" and Part.2 "Sweet & Sour." It is said to have once again created a "trusted listen OST" with musical design that perfectly matches the work's atmosphere.
Meanwhile, "Romance's Absolute Value" is a high-teen comedy series about Yeoi-ju (played by Kim Hyang-gi), a high school girl who used to write romance novels about handsome teachers and becomes the protagonist of a turbulent school life as she encounters them in unexpected moments in reality.
