The web variety show "Zzanbro Shin Dong-yeob" became embroiled in a controversy over its level of content and ultimately revised the teaser, but fans hinted at truck protests and the criticism has only intensified.
On the 1st, the production team told OSEN in a currency, "We modified the teaser and parts of the video after collecting fans' opinions." They added, "The teaser was edited in a somewhat provocative way," and said cautiously, "If you watch the main episode, misunderstandings will decrease."
The problematic scene stemmed from the teaser for the episode featuring TXT guest Soobin and Beomgyu. In the video, the MCs made body-related remarks to Soobin, mentioned specific body parts and attempted measurements, and it even showed Soobin saying "I am ashamed."
In addition, similar situations continued among the cast, and with added scenes of some MCs exposing their bodies, the overall flow being consumed as a "19+ gag" enlarged the controversy.
After the teaser was released, netizens poured out critical reactions such as "They crossed the line," "Isn't this sexual harassment?", and "Even for a drinking variety show there should be standards."
Fandom backlash was particularly fierce. TOMORROW X TOGETHER fans pointed out that it was an "inappropriately explicit level for content featuring idols" and even announced a truck protest demanding protection for the artists.
The core issue is not simply a "provocative teaser," but that situations close to sexual harassment were consumed as "laugh points," wrapped in subtitles emphasizing entertainment like "shock·terror."
Because the platform is YouTube, it can be exposed without age restrictions, and especially because it is idol content that includes a teenage fan base, criticism that "isn't this an anachronistic 19+ code?" has continued.
The production team acted quickly to make corrections, but the debate over balancing comedic freedom and levels of expression with respect for performers is likely to continue for the time being.
