The incarceration status of Jeon Cheong-jo, who drew attention with a notorious marriage-based fraud case, has been reported.
On April 30, a new video titled "Reading the prison conditions of notorious criminals" was posted on the YouTube channel Read.
In the video that day, updates were given on criminals such as Lee Eun-hae, Jung Yoo-jung, and Cho Ju-bin, and Jeon Cheong-jo's life in prison, known for the marriage-based fraud case, was also reported.
An inmate who served time with Jeon Cheong-jo wrote in a letter, "Jeon Cheong-jo said they are bisexual. In the past they were pregnant and lived with a man. After that, I heard they cut their hair short and had a mastectomy, which led to their current state."
He added, "After taking the hot water shower that is available twice a week, Jeon Cheong-jo goes into the cell and always bares their chest for a full hour. Maybe because of the mastectomy, they seem intent on showing the chestless appearance, so they keep baring their chest."
Jeon Cheong-jo said they received testosterone injections and grew a beard, and they actually shave and maintain the beard themselves, "They keep an electric razor in the cell and shave their beard frequently. In principle, electric razors are provided when necessary, but Jeon Cheong-jo keeps one in the cell and uses it," the letter said.
In particular, Jeon Cheong-jo was said to repeatedly approach female inmates. The inmate added, "Now they think they are a man and hit on women. Because such behavior repeated, I heard they were moved to the ward where foreign inmates stay."
Another inmate also said, "There were rumors that just talking with Jeon Cheong-jo meant dating, and that made them frustrated. They liked receiving attention and seemed to enjoy people staring because they were famous."
Meanwhile, Jeon Cheong-jo was arrested on fraud charges under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, and a final 13-year sentence was confirmed on appeal. Nam Hyun-hee won the entire 1.1 billion won in damages in a lawsuit she filed against Jeon Cheong-jo.
