The MBC Friday-Saturday drama Perfect Crown (written by Yoo Ji-won / directed by Park Jun-hwa, Bae Hee-young), which has been bringing excitement to living rooms, is reaching the halfway mark and opening the door to its full second act. MBC has prepared a "Perfect Crown Day" on May 1 (Fri), when episodes 1 through 6 can be binge-watched. The following episode 7 of Perfect Crown will air that same day at 9:40 p.m.
Ahead of that, the production team pointed out the key second-half viewing points that will heighten immersion in the story, along with the deepening romance between Seong Hee-ju (played by IU) and Grand Prince Ian (played by Byeon Woo-seok).
The biggest point of interest is the changing relationship between Seong Hee-ju and Grand Prince Ian. The contract marriage Hee-ju proposed to gain status proceeded swiftly, even gaining the king's approval. The two people, each with different wounds, encouraged one another and gradually grew closer, and it became more intriguing when it was revealed that Grand Prince Ian had been interested in Hee-ju since their school days. Attention is focused on whether the married life bound by a contract can be reborn into true love and how that will end.
Forces trying to prevent the two from marrying are also intensifying. Prime minister Min Jung-woo (played by Noh Sang Hyun) revealed a romantic feeling toward Hee-ju and raised tension by making a suggestive proposal to "marry me." In addition, Crown princess Yoon I-rang (played by Gong Seung-yeon) is also planning to use Hee-ju as a weakness against Grand Prince Ian. The combination of those opposing the marriage for different purposes heightens the tension over what crisis they may bring to the two protagonists.
The relationship between the "chiefs of staff" Choi Hyun (played by Yu Su-bin) and Do Hye-jung (played by Lee Yeon), who will offer a different charm from the main couple, is also a viewing point. The two, who formed a peculiar vibe through flowers, are expected to live together at Grand Prince Ian's residence and rapidly grow closer. The new romantic chemistry these long-serving scene-stealers will show is likely to add vitality to the drama.
A drama official said, "The colorful stories of the royal family and Castle Group surrounding Seong Hee-ju and Grand Prince Ian will unfold with greater density in the second half."
