Comedian Yang Sang-guk of 'You Quiz on the Block' shared memories of his father.
On the 29th episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereafter 'You Quiz'), researchers who invented 'Cheongung 2' from the Agency for Defense Development (ADD), a veterinarian who captured the wolf Neukgu, and comedian Yang Sang-guk appeared.
Researchers Kim Hyo-chang and Ji Hyun-jin of the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) explained Cheongung 2, which was independently designed and Gu Hyun with 100% domestic technology. They said, "When people from the Middle East come to Korea, they say, 'Why is your country so hot,' and Russians tell Korea, 'Why is your country so cold.' The environmental spectrum is so wide, and it seems we developed with that as a background."
Researcher Ji Hyun-jin said, "Other countries want to benchmark defense industry or research and development systems. I think it was possible because of the direction, bold investment and the efforts of people like us."
Yu Jae-seok said, "There is someone I met in Pangyo seven years ago. I didn't know K-defense would be exported so much afterward. If we had bought that person's company stock then! Oh my!" and told a stock story that suddenly came to mind, drawing laughter.
Veterinarian Jin Se-rim, who captured the wolf Neukgu at a zoo in Daejeon, appeared. Jin Se-rim said, "Neukgu is a third-generation Neukgu born in Korea in 2024. In the wild they died from disease or rank fights, so after birth it was raised with artificial feeding and released again." He is a veterinarian at the National Institute of Ecology (NIE), and when the matter was posted in the veterinarians' group message when Neukgu escaped, he immediately said he would join.
A wildlife capture specialist taught veterinarian Jin Se-rim how to use a tranquilizer gun. However, due to fake AI photos of Neukgu, Jin Se-rim who came up empty-handed said, "People at the scene all believed the AI photos saying Neukgu had escaped. That world was terrifying. When something like this happens, how could you not believe it?" and lamented, "Because of one AI photo, 240 personnel moved at once. If we hadn't caught it then, wouldn't we have caught it sooner?"
Jin Se-rim said, "The original plan was not to fire a tranquilizer gun on site even if captured at night. The plan was to bring it into the zoo and secure a space to fire the tranquilizer. But when I saw Neukgu it was more exhausted than I thought and it was the right time to shoot today," and said she feared Neukgu might have died because of her after the first capture failed. Jin Se-rim described the situation after the second capture, saying, "Neukgu was hit by the tranquilizer and collapsed by the water. If it is sedated and falls into the water, it can drown. So I lifted Neukgu's head from the water with the tranquilizer."
Meanwhile, Yang Sang-guk, who is enjoying a second heyday as 'King Gye of Gimhae,' expressed deep affection for his father. He said he wished his father, who was a taxi driver in life, could have been met as a traffic radio DJ, and that during the coronavirus period his father passed away and he had lingering feelings about having him dressed in a plastic bag and directly placed in the casket.
Yang Sang-guk said, "It is sad that the daily life with my father is gone. My father's 'Did gukguri come?' is gone. The times when my father and mother ate together, those things are gone."
He added, "Many comedian colleagues came to see me. Heo Kyunghwan and Kim Won-hyo even did catchphrases. Yu Jae-seok sent a wreath, and I put it inside saying it was sent by the 'variety show president.'"
