Singer Lee Seung Gi appears on "Immortal Songs" amid disputes with his agency, sharing welcome news about his current status.
According to OSEN reporting on the 30th, singer Lee Seung Gi will participate in the KBS2 "Immortal Songs" recording held on May 11.
The recording of "Immortal Songs," staged as a Kim Do-hoon special, will feature, in addition to Lee Seung Gi, singers Bada, Gummy, Lee Jin-seong & Heo Gak & Lim Han-byeol, SeeYa, K.WILL, Lee Seokhoon, Park Hyun-kyu, ONEWE, Psycass and other outstanding, talented singers making a large-scale appearance.
Kim Do-hoon, who has served as co-CEO of RBW, became widely known after S.E.S.'s "Just A Feeling," and went on to create numerous hits that established him as a star composer, including Gummy's "I Wish I Had Been Your Friend," SG Wannabe's "Sin and Punishment," SeeYa's "Greeting of Love," Lee Seung Gi's "Will You Marry Me?", FTISLAND's "I Hope," Baek Z Young's "Don't Forget," IU's "Marshmallow," CNBLUE's "I'm a Loner," Davichi's "Time, Stop," Wheesung's "I Thought About Marriage," K.WILL's "Please Don't Do This," Soyou & Jung Gigo's "Some" and others.
In this special, artists with long ties to composer Kim Do-hoon—S.E.S.'s Bada, Gummy, SeeYa, K.WILL, SG Wannabe's Lee Seokhoon and Lee Seung Gi—are expected to reinterpret a variety of hit songs.
In particular, Lee Seung Gi has been keeping a busy schedule amid a series of recent issues. He announced in February that his wife, actress Lee Da-in, is pregnant with their second child, receiving many congratulations. Lee Da-in, who was five months pregnant at the time, is focusing on prenatal care ahead of a birth later this year.
But the happy news was short-lived: since last month Lee Seung Gi has been in an exclusive contract dispute with his agency, Big Planet Made Entertainment, over settlement payments. Lee Seung Gi's legal representative said in an official statement earlier this month that "Lee Seung Gi notified the termination of the contract at the end of March on the grounds that Big Planet Made Entertainment violated the exclusive contract, and accordingly the exclusive contract was lawfully terminated."
According to Lee Seung Gi's side, Big Planet Made failed to properly pay settlement amounts to Lee Seung Gi from September of last year until now, and there were problems with support for his entertainment activities and payments to on-site staff and external vendors. Lee Seung Gi requested basic documents related to contractual relationships to ensure transparency in settlements, but the agency refused without justifiable reason, and Lee Seung Gi notified the termination of the exclusive contract at the end of last month, they explained.
Regarding this, Big Planet Made said, "We are doing our best to restore management quickly, and we are continuously consulting so that the related matters can be resolved amicably." With the exclusive contract issue not completely resolved, Lee Seung Gi has not disclosed many updates and has been quietly focusing on parenting.
Amid this, he drew attention by announcing that his first step would be an appearance on "Immortal Songs." Last May, Lee Seung Gi made his first appearance on "Immortal Songs" in the "2025 Oh My Star special" and took the championship trophy at the same time. At that time he performed "Drowning" with Lee Hong-gi and won the final, going on to reach the "2025 king of kings" competition. Fans are eager to see what kind of performance he will deliver in the Kim Do-hoon special of "Immortal Songs."
Meanwhile, the "Immortal Songs" Kim Do-hoon special consists of two parts and will air on June 6 and 13.
