Singer Kim Yong Bin revealed he struggled with panic disorder in the past.
On May 1, Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant, airing on KBS 2TV, will feature the story of trot prince Kim Yong Bin, who rose to stardom after winning the final crown of Mr. Trot 3. It covers the trials Kim Yong Bin endured during his 23-year single-minded trot career and the reasons he was able to rise above those trials. Kim Yong Bin's candid story is expected to strongly touch viewers' hearts on Friday evenings.
In the VCR shown that day, Kim Yong Bin warmly welcomed his friend Chu Hyuk Jin, who had driven all the way to Daegu for him. The two, who grew close after appearing together on a trot competition program, are close friends of the same age. Chu Hyuk Jin, the son of a barbecue restaurant owner, brought plenty of delicious meat for Kim Yong Bin, and Kim Yong Bin, too, demonstrated the skills of the rookie guest chef, quickly creating perfect-combination dishes that astonished everyone.
Then the two began reminiscing. Although they are busy days for the trending trot singers, they also had times that were hard to endure. Kim Yong Bin said, "After graduating middle school I went to Japan to sing. It was really hard then." Not only did he face financial difficulties, but a suddenly arrived voice change made it impossible to sing, and at a young age he even suffered from panic disorder.
Kim Yong Bin recalled, "For seven years I did nothing and just stayed at home," and detailed those days. Chu Hyuk Jin also shared, "In my 20s, while nurturing dreams of becoming a singer but lacking money, I survived on a single lunchbox a day," recounting his story from that time. The candid stories of the two reportedly drew supportive responses from the Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant cast as well.
Meanwhile, that day Kim Yong Bin once again proved his exceptional cooking sense by quickly preparing famous dishes from his hometown of Daegu. The cheerful meeting between rookie guest chef Kim Yong Bin, who burst out saying, "I could be a chef," and "I'm good at cooking," and his same-age close friend Chu Hyuk Jin can be seen in the broadcast.
