India's first K-webtoon remake series 'Love Always' has completed filming.
Cross-border production company KROSS Pictures (CEO Kim Hyun-woo) said on the 30th that the India series 'Love Always' (working title), being produced in India, successfully finished filming on April 2. Based on the popular domestic Kakao webtoon 'Sal-a Mal-a', this work is the first Indian screen content to officially remake a Korean webtoon IP into a series, and it is scheduled to be released in the second half of this year through India's largest OTT platform, JioCinema.
Since establishing a local subsidiary in 2015, KROSS Pictures made Janne Jaan, which ranked No. 1 in Netflix India's film category in 2023, and Oh! Baby, the remake version of Who Is She!, which held the No. 1 spot at the Indian box office for two consecutive weeks. This Love Always is significant in that it expanded the territory of K-IP from films to series.
Additionally, KROSS Pictures strengthened its stature as a global production company by producing the 2023 Amazon Japan original film Knuckle Girl and releasing it simultaneously in more than 240 countries worldwide. Domestically, following the drama Business Proposal, which caused a global sensation on Netflix, last year Ms. Incognito achieved the second-highest ratings in ENA drama history, and in the second half of the year it will present the new tvN drama Tomorrow, Too, Work!
It was acquired by Kakao Entertainment in 2020, and in 2024 founder Kim Hyun-woo reacquired the company (MBO). Recently, it plans to secure a leading position in the future media market through aggressive technology investment.
