Broadcaster Ahn Sun-young confessed the reason for her double life.
On the 29th, a video titled Ahn Sun-young here. I am sorry I could not tell you earlier was posted on the YouTube channel "Ahn Sun-young's double life."
That day Ahn Sun-young announced a channel renewal and said the channel "This is exactly Ahn Sun-young" would be reorganized into "Ahn Sun-young's double life." She said, "One month in Canada, one month in Seoul, and over the past year I have commuted to Toronto seven times," and opened her mouth, saying, "(With my husband) I'm the migratory parent, right? Unusually, fathers usually become migratory parents, but unusually I run a company, do broadcasting, and decisively I'm a caregiver."
She went on to explain, "My mother is quite ill. You can't uproot her and leave. So I had no choice but to leave my roots in Korea and, to raise my child, extend branches to Canada, which might seem unusual to others. I want to show that without holding back."
Currently Ahn Sun-young lives as a daughter in Korea and as a mother for her son in Canada. Regarding her son's study abroad in Canada, Ahn Sun-young said, "One thing the child hates most is when mom and dad fight. My husband and I agreed that as mother, father and child our relationship must never be broken. We agreed to raise the child not as your child or my child but as 'our child.'"
She added, "There are times when being together causes more damage. But you cannot readily dissolve a family. Then being apart can bring improvement."
In this situation, when her son passed the Canadian youth hockey league and chose to study abroad, Ahn Sun-young said, "My husband and I separately and together care for the child in Canada. We are simply a family. Each of us gives the child enough love."
Regarding her mother, who is battling dementia, Ahn Sun-young said, "My mother has cognitive impairment, so we placed her in a nursing home. Her body is healthy but she cannot remember things, so she needs care."
Asked whether the double life as a mother and a daughter is difficult, Ahn Sun-young confessed, "Honestly, it's a bit overwhelming. I spent about a year crying and worrying alone. I couldn't abandon my mother, and I couldn't send only my child to Canada, so I ultimately had no choice. So I ended up going back and forth between Korea and Canada."
