"Study king genuine genius Hong Jin Kyung" DAY6 Wonpil expressed his feelings of being loved by the entire nation along with the reverse-run miracle.
On the 30th, a video titled Hong Jin Kyung YouTube 'DAY6 Wonpil and at home emotional explosion moved Hong Jin Kyung (+ a cappella live)' was released. DAY6, famous for numerous hit songs, is a band in which the members' individual abilities stand out.
Wonpil said, "I played the piano properly since the first year of middle school," and said that he wanted to learn music from JYP's Park Jin-Young, so after practicing for three years he auditioned. After five years of being a trainee, he debuted as a band.
Wonpil said, "The company suggested, why don't you try doing a band. Moreover, not just a band but you have to do all the songwriting and composing, everyone has to be a lead vocalist, and this was a format not common in Korea, so we also thought, 'can we do this?'" He said. Thus they debuted with their first song 'Congratulations,' but it didn't do as well as expected. The company also encouraged DAY6 to do busking.
The period when they held busking and concerts and made two songs every month was 2017. The song that came out then was 'You Were Beautiful.' However, it became known not as an initial hit but through a reverse run.
Wonpil recalled that "we wondered if we could do DAY6 again, and while in the military we called each other and decided we must do it. We held a concert in Dec. 2023 and were very grateful. A song called 'Welcome to the Show' came out and received a lot of love. At the end of 2024 we performed at Gocheok Dome, and it was really unbelievable," noting the time they went through military hiatus and the COVID period. He added that the members kept contacting each other and vowed to perform, and they enjoyed the honor of entering Gocheok Dome at the end of 2024.
Moreover, DAY6 presented the so-called "refreshing armor" stage during the cleaning time at the 2024 KBO All-Star Game that moved all baseball fans' group singing and the baseball players. Wonpil smiled happily, saying of another reverse-run song, 'So that it can become a page,' "that was also made in 2019," and "what I'm truly grateful for is that I wanted to make music that doesn't age, and that happened."
