In 'Countryside village Lee Jang-woo season 3', actor Lee Jang-woo made his first variety show appearance since marriage, and his wife Cho Hye-won also appeared.
On the 29th, MBC's new variety show 'Countryside village Lee Jang-woo season 3 (abbreviated Countryside village 3)' premiered. 'Countryside village 3' is the third regional revitalization project that follows actor Lee Jang-woo as he runs to Buan in search of the West Sea's rice thief, transforming Buan into a place to run, eat and return to, seeking Buan's warm hospitality and rich flavors. In particular, 'Countryside village 3' is the third season of 'Countryside village Lee Jang-woo', which first premiered as a four-episode series in April 2024. Following season 2, which expanded to five episodes last year, attention is focused on Lee Jang-woo, who married long-time partner Cho Hye-won in November last year, as this is the first variety show he is appearing on as a newlywed.
For this, his wife Cho Hye-won joined him. She teased, How about a 'rice thief run' like the boiled pork run, cheering on Lee Jang-woo. In response to Lee Jang-woo's plan to launch the 'rice thief run' to find Buan's rice thief, Cho Hye-won, 'Imokase' chef Kim Mi-ryeong, broadcaster Hong Seok-cheon and announcer Ko Kang-yong joined in. On a rainy spring day, heading to the third village, Buan, Lee Jang-woo recalled the journey of the 'Countryside village' series in the car, saying, I remember everyone gathering on my wedding day from Juksan village, Gimje and Buan to celebrate.
At the wedding of Lee Jang-woo and Cho Hye-won held last November, residents from past 'Countryside village' series attended. From the grandmothers of Juksan village in Gimje who taught them pak kimchi in the first season to the 'rich brother' from Ganghwa Island who appeared in season 2, they were all there. They sat at one table and created a friendly atmosphere like long-time neighbors. Lee Jang-woo recalled, They all congratulated me like people from Gimje and Ganghwa Island who I always see, and I am so grateful that they came such a long way to celebrate.
After exploring the village, Lee Jang-woo headed to Gomsu seafood market. Seeing the dried fish lined up on the shore, Lee Jang-woo swallowed his saliva, saying, The sea looks like it's perfect for jeotgal. The oversized eel and Buan specialty pulchi especially caught his eye. Seeing the cheap specialty pulchi selling for only 10,000 won per row, Lee Jang-woo shouted, I found the rice thief. Market vendors welcomed him, chanting his breakout role from more than 10 years ago, Oh Ja-ryong, saying, Oh Ja-ryong is here?
Lee Jang-woo also visited Buan's famous bakery. It was a place that sells a signature salt-steamed bun made using salt harvested from the nearby Gomso salt field. There were even travelers who came from Ulsan for this. The bakery owner said, I think it's fate. He also said my younger brother looks alike, creating a sense of familiarity. In response, Lee Jang-woo laughed, People who say I look like them usually weigh over 100 kg. The bakery owner's younger brother who actually appeared, Kim Jong-woo, boasted 108 kg. Lee Jang-woo gleefully added, I'm 103 kg. I win, drawing more laughter.
Before his marriage, Lee Jang-woo appeared on the MBC variety show I Live Alone in an athletics special in October last year, where he revealed his weight was 102 kg. It seemed he had lost weight for the wedding, but after the wedding his weight appears to have increased again, and his happiness about marrying Cho Hye-won brought laughs.
As if to show this is his first variety show after marriage, Lee Jang-woo expressed a desire for children. He met the grandmothers of Udeok village and received the energy of fertility. In response to the grandmothers saying, This person also gave birth to the youngest here, Lee Jang-woo said, I want to get energy and have a child, adding, I should introduce my wife so she can receive the energy.
In the 'Countryside village 3' preview shown at the end of the broadcast, Cho Hye-won is shown visiting Buan's Udeok village. Wearing a leather jacket and entering energetically, Lee Jang-woo jokingly asked her, Were you out delivering something? Cho Hye-won smiled broadly and released energy by starting a fire and chopping wood. Lee Jang-woo laughed, saying, My wife doesn't even come near the kitchen and I don't leave the kitchen.
Above all, Cho Hye-won surprised viewers with her eagerness for many children, saying, I want to have up to 00 children. She even walked through the countryside with Lee Jang-woo, asking, This is so nice. Should we move here?, adding to the curiosity.
