# 'Cooking is painful!' 'Undercover chef' 'Becoming a mess cook legend' cooking-themed attractions
Cooking is painful!, which will be first released on the YouTube channel Laccounz and tvN, is an entertainment program that captures a 'food exhibition' project in which chefs gather to find new cooking ideas. It confirmed appearances by show chef Kim Poong, 'dim sum queen' Jeong Ji-seon, 'Witch with a Wok' Lee Mun-jung, 'business genius' Jo Seo-hyung, and comedian Lee Eunji. A differentiated gastronomic experience such as a four-person four-color collaboration cookie show will be presented. It premieres on May 9 (Sat) at 10:30 p.m.
Undercover Chef, which premieres on May 21 (Thu) at 8:40 p.m., is a show in which Korea's top star chefs go undercover as the 'youngest kitchen staff' of restaurants in the countries that formed the basis of their cuisine, abandon their rank and take on hidden missions. Sam Kim, the 'kitchen saint' who pursues 'naturalist cooking,' goes to Parma, Italy; Jeong Ji-seon, the 'queen of Chinese cuisine,' goes to Chengdu, China; and Kwon Seong-jun, the 'Naples mafioso of taste,' goes to Naples to begin life as the youngest staff. By throwing away the title of owner chef and sweating from the lowest kitchen position, their 모습 will provide a different tension and fun not seen in existing cooking programs.
Also, Park Jihoon's next work Becoming a mess cook legend, who captivated 16 million viewers with the film The King's Warden, is also set to premiere. Becoming a mess cook legend will be first released on May 11 (Mon) at 8:50 p.m. on tvN and TVING. Directed by Jo Nam-hyung, written by Choi Ryong, planned by Studio Dragon, and produced by Studio Dragon·Studio N, it is a military cookery fantasy drama that depicts the process of a mess cook, who wears a kitchen knife instead of a gun and an apron instead of a cartridge belt, becoming a legend. In March it was the only Korean content invited as a special noncompetitive screening at Series Mania 2026, France's representative drama series festival, drawing attention. Local officials reportedly evaluated it as "an unusual drama that delivers shocking pleasure and original wit," raising expectations for the work.
Regarding this lineup, a tvN official said, "We consistently strive to present well-made IPs across various genres. In May and June we have prepared a large number of multi-genre new works, from welcome entertainment that can evoke viewers' memories, global hits that attracted viewers worldwide, survival shows full of fierce competitive fun, to culinary reality that combines taste and fun, so we ask for your interest."
