Actor Lee Jang-woo returned with "Countryside Village Lee Jang-woo 3." His first steps after marriage, and his first joint appearance with his wife Jo Hye-won, drew attention from the first broadcast.
The first episode of "Countryside Village Lee Jang-woo 3," which aired on the 29th, depicted Lee Jang-woo heading to Buan, North Jeolla, in search of a "rice thief." Warm affection and distinctive residents welcomed Lee Jang-woo, and he began full-fledged life in Buan.
"Countryside Village Lee Jang-woo" is a popular series that began its first broadcast in Nov. 2024 and has continued through season 3. Each season has set its own highest ratings, establishing itself as a flagship seasonal program for MBC, and especially this season 3 returned to viewers unusually quickly, only five months after the end of season 2.
In episode 1, Lee Jang-woo met the village elders and warmed to them like a son, quickly adapting, and said, "Should I bring my bride here once?" After that, Jo Hye-won actually caught attention when she stylishly arrived in Buan on a motorcycle. Jo Hye-won showed off unabashed "tetto girl" charm, from lighting a fire with firewood to chopping firewood.
In an interview with OSEN, Lee Jang-woo said, "First, I want to offer my deepest thanks to the viewers who have loved the show through season 3. Choosing to spend my first steps after marriage together on 'Countryside Village' felt like a very natural choice for me," and added, "This program is more than a simple entertainment show to me; it feels like a hometown of the heart. At this new starting point, I am especially grateful to greet you again through 'Countryside Village,' where I can feel most comfortable and show my true self. I have a strong wish to repay that with even warmer and more sincere appearances."
In particular, Lee Jang-woo and his wife Jo Hye-won are newlyweds who exchanged vows in Nov. last year, and their first joint appearance after marriage drew attention. Lee Jang-woo said, "I didn't know Hye-won would blend in so naturally. That surprised me even more. (laughs) She's usually a spirited and lively person, and the producer described her as having 'tetto girl' charm, which I agree with a hundred percent."
He continued, "In front of the camera for my wife, she didn't try to dress up or act awkward; she really enjoyed daily life in the countryside. While filming together, it was a time to newly discover, 'Ah — my wife has this side to her!'" and he laughed, "I want to say that future joint appearances on entertainment shows are possible anytime if viewers look kindly upon them."
"Countryside Village Lee Jang-woo" carries a meaningful concept as a 'regional revitalization project,' not just a simple eating show or food program.
About the unique appeal of season 3, he said, "We aim to add deeper authenticity on top of the unique color that 'Countryside Village' has built up. As relationships with neighbors and daily life in the village have become much more familiar, you will be able to see many genuine moments that naturally emerge from that," and added, "There are new challenges and changes, and a different facet of Lee Jang-woo as a married man is also included. Above all, we want to give viewers a lot of healing and laughter so they feel, 'I want to go there and rest deeply,' so please give us much interest and love while it airs."
Meanwhile, "Countryside Village Lee Jang-woo 3" airs every Wednesday at 9 p.m.
