Kang Seong-jae, with the mindset of a soldier who follows orders, shows his determination by saying, "Loyalty! Sincerity! Yes I can!" The unfamiliar post of cook and the captain's hopeful words hint that Kang Seong-jae's life will change 180 degrees.
The soldiers' mess at Ganglim outpost where Kang Seong-jae will serve is notorious for substandard hygiene and taste: flies buzz where they shouldn't, and soldiers cry that they do not want to eat.
