Actor Song Il-guk's triplet sons, known as the "Samdungi," dramatically saved a girl household head, a backstory revealed on "Neighbor Millionaire".
Today (29) EBS' Seo Jang-hoon's Neighbor Millionaire (abbreviated Neighbor Millionaire) features dumpling company CEO Nam Mi-kyung, boasting annual revenue of 23 billion won and a daily production of 20 tons.
Nam Mi-kyung is the CEO of the dumpling brand whose mukbang featured Song Il-guk's triplet sons Daehan, Minguk and Manse, who became a hot topic as the so-called "Samdungi" on KBS 2TV entertainment program The Return of SUPERMAN (abbreviated "The Return of SUPERMAN"). Through this brand, which became famous as "Samdungi dumplings," Nam Mi-kyung made a dramatic rise from being a 19-year-old girl household head to becoming the "dumpling queen."
Although she now runs a massive 2,500-pyeong factory that produces about 150 types of dumplings every day without pause, she still lives the "factory life," with a one-room office inside the company that takes 10 seconds to get to work. With no TV, a few sets of clothes and only minimal daily necessities, she was the millionaire with the smallest room in the history of "Neighbor Millionaire."
Behind her frugality was a tearful childhood. Becoming a girl household head at 19, she took responsibility for her family after her father collapsed in an accident. She worked as a cosmetics door-to-door salesperson and an insurance top seller and entered distribution, but was blocked by gender barriers. With the sales ability that made her an insurance top seller, she achieved monthly earnings of 20 million won in the late 1990s, but an unexpected incident left her credit damaged and she was hounded by debt collection.
She even suffered a hand injury while making dumplings. She experienced an accident in which a finger was severed. In recalling, "the finger was lying on the ground," even MC Seo Jang-hoon became solemn.
Unbowed, Nam Mi-kyung made a comeback with "Samdungi dumplings" on "The Return of SUPERMAN." The sight of Song Il-guk and his triplet sons devouring her galbi dumplings in the blink of an eye pulled her back from the brink of closure. Riding that momentum, she achieved a year's worth of sales in just three months and has now written the legend of 23 billion won in annual revenue. Attention is focused on what resonance Nam Mi-kyung's success story will give viewers of "Neighbor Millionaire." <
