BTS has continued its top-three popularity on the U.S. Billboard 'Global' charts for five weeks. Even in its fifth week since the comeback, it demonstrated undiminished momentum and proved its standing on Billboard and European and Japanese charts.
According to the latest chart (May 2) released by Billboard on the 28th (local time), the title track "SWIM" from BTS's fifth full-length album "Arirang" (ARIRANG) ranked No. 2 on the "Global (excluding U.S.)" and No. 3 on the "Global 200."
In particular, the album's power in lining up tracks is fierce. All 13 vocal tracks, excluding the track that contains the bell sound of the Seongdeokdaewangshinjeong bell, appeared on both global charts, proving the album's overall completeness and mass appeal at the same time.
The main chart report is also brilliant. The album "Arirang" ranked No. 4 on the main album chart "Billboard 200," and the title track "SWIM" was ranked No. 22 on the main song chart "Hot 100." In addition, the album track "Body to Body" (No. 95) entered the "Hot 100" for the fifth consecutive week, showcasing BTS's strength.
Also, according to the latest article from Japan's Oricon, "Arirang" reclaimed the No. 1 spot on the "weekly digital album ranking" (May 4). It is a terrifying resurgence that has stayed in the top five for six consecutive weeks since debuting at No. 1 in its first week.
The "certification relay" across the European continent is also noteworthy. It reinforced its image as a "global pop icon" by earning platinum certification in France (SNEP) for selling more than 100,000 copies, achieving its sixth gold certification in Italy (FIMI), and adding a gold certification in Spain (EPDM) for sales of more than 20,000 units.
BTS, which opened the North American leg of its world tour at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on the 25th, will continue the momentum in El Paso on May 2–3. The El Paso County Commission announced a resolution not only awarding BTS the "Estimado Amigo" honor but also declaring the performance dates "El Paso BTS Weekend."
