Comedian Yang Sang-guk of 'You Quiz on the Block' expressed gratitude to his fellow trainees for their support when his father passed away.
On the 29th episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereafter 'You Quiz'), Yang Sang-guk spoke about his father's death for the first time. His father, who died during the COVID-19 pandemic, could not be visited due to quarantine and had to be cremated immediately, but Yang Sang-guk barely managed to stop even that.
Yang Sang-guk said, "It broke my heart that my father was taken away in a plastic bag. I couldn't dress him in a burial garment. That hurt me," adding, "On the last day my older brother came from the United States. But when we saw our father, we had to wear flame-resistant suits to go in."
Yang Sang-guk continued, "Many of the KBS 22nd class comedian trainees came, all of them. I was really grateful," adding, "My fellow trainees told me, 'Sang-guk lived a good life. This is the first time I've seen Heo Kyunghwan stay up all night,'" which made Yu Jae-seok laugh. He said, "Kyunghwan hyung takes good care of people but he doesn't stay up all night. He does his duty but in moderation."
Yang Sang-guk added, "When senior Park Joonhyung sent a funeral wreath, I told them to just leave it alone, but when senior Yu Jae-seok sent one, I had them bring it inside. The president of variety shows sent a wreath," which made Yu Jae-seok collapse backward once more.
