Former announcer Bae Ji-hyun shared an update on her "solo move".
On the 27th, a video titled "Wife moving solo by herself. But now with childcare included (3-hour round-trip kindergarten riding)" was uploaded to Bae Ji-hyun's YouTube channel.
That day Bae Ji-hyun appeared on camera already visibly exhausted, drawing attention. She said, "I'm about to faint right now. It would be easier if I just took all the stuff, but because I'm separating them. You don't know what to take and what not to take. I separated them with stickers. Red means not taking it," saying she was sorting belongings alone for the move.
Bae Ji-hyun said, "The move I was hoping for ended up happening over today and tomorrow. It became a 2 Days & 1 Night move, but because of the construction schedule trying to do it by morning, we had to remove things in advance on Sunday, so today became the day to take things out. There are quite a few things we're not taking, but as I pulled things out I kept thinking 'wow.' This place has a lot of storage. So I kept putting things in. So honestly I've been a packrat since long ago. Each thing is maximized. Hyunjin and I vowed that after moving we'll live minimally, please," she shook her head.
The production staff asked, "Is it okay for you to move alone with so much stuff?" and Bae Ji-hyun said, "Originally I could have come after the Sunday Jamsil game ended, but miraculously it got scheduled on Tuesday, and because I have to work out on Monday I had to go to Incheon, so miraculously I couldn't come on Monday. Really alone. Completely moving alone. Except for the people who watch the children. Honestly, who would do this? They don't know the belongings. I took the gloves and tore through three or four while taking things out," she complained.
She continued, "Taking things out is my job, but the staff who pack them safely are from a professional company. From now on I feel a little better. I can sit down," and caught her breath. When the production staff said, "Isn't there a huge amount of stuff?" she vowed, "Honestly I'm only taking about one-third. It's all full inside. I really sighed. Why did I live like this. I really won't live like this anymore. Just wait and see."
The next morning, Bae Ji-hyun had to handle the move and a two-hour kindergarten riding for her two children. She said, "It's always chaotic, but today it's twice as chaotic," and explained, "The moving date didn't line up perfectly, so the children's kindergarten situation became awkward. We debated for about a month in March whether to have them attend the existing Ilsan kindergarten or a Seoul kindergarten. Hyeseong is relatively okay, but Junsang would have a harder time adapting, and if he entered in mid-April it would be tougher, so I made a decision. For the month of March I'll do the kids' rides to and from (Seoul) like commuting. Today ended up being the last day and the moving day," she explained the situation. She said she was driving from Ilsan to Seoul for kindergarten rides until they moved into the new house.
She said, "I like it so much. I don't have my own routine. First, this time slot is so congested that at worst it took 2 hours and 10 minutes. Today it was about 1 hour 40 minutes. It keeps getting longer. So the kids were tired and I was tired, but we went back and forth fine," and added, "Don't commuters do this every day?" expressing astonishment.
After the children finished being dropped off, Bae Ji-hyun moved to the new house. She appeared utterly drained, evoking sympathy. The new home featured a living room with large windows and even a space to display trophies and photos, drawing attention. Bae Ji-hyun said, "In Ilsan there wasn't a separate place for awards so I put them at the entrance, but aren't these very valuable trophies? I wanted to take good care of them, so I matched the path and adjusted it. The rest will go in randomly, but anyway they shine more so I like it," expressing satisfaction.
After finishing organizing in a few hours, Bae Ji-hyun wore a brighter expression. She said, "It's much more comfortable now than when I dropped them off earlier. The kids' room still needs more organizing, but I expect they'll like it. I'll install lighting and when it's more organized I'll show you how it changed," previewing a housewarming.
Meanwhile, Bae Ji-hyun married baseball player Ryu Hyun-jin in 2018 and they have one son and one daughter. In particular, Ryu Hyun-jin drew attention after it was reported that in January he purchased with Bae Ji-hyun, in joint names, one unit of the 'Alpha Imhouse' in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, with a private area of 242㎡ (73 pyeong) for 6.4 billion won in full cash.
