The group BTS will receive a special award ahead of their North American tour.
The excitement over BTS's North American tour, BTS world tour 'ARIRANG' in North America, is heating up. El Paso, where the concert will be held, is preparing a special award to welcome BTS.
Agency BigHit Music said on the 28th, "At 9:30 a.m. local time on the 27th, the El Paso County commissioners in Texas, U.S., awarded BTS the 'Estimado Amigo' award and approved a resolution declaring the concert dates of May 2–3 as El Paso BTS Weekend."
The special award is said to have been prepared in recognition of BTS's concert contributing to the revitalization of tourism in the El Paso area and boosting community pride. In addition, it highly evaluated the social messages and public interest value contained in BTS's music.
Brock Underwood, executive director of the El Paso tourism agency, also forecast that BTS's concerts over the two days would bring an economic impact of $75 million (about 110.5 billion won) to the local economy.
BTS began their first performance on the 25th at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, and they are preparing for a solo concert at Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso as the first Korean singer to do so.
