Rookie boy group GENUS took an ambitious first step into the music industry.
The five-member GENUS (Chanyong, Seoha, Chaehun, Jaeyoung, Yuan) released the digital single "SUGAR RUSH" today (27) on various online music sites, opening the door to their full-fledged debut activities.
The name GENUS, short for "Generation Us," contains a confident aspiration to create a new era together with fans. Even before their official debut, they drew attention with notable moves: since Jan. they have been honing solid live experience through extended performances at small theaters in Japan. Rather than seeking one-off buzz, they chose a "performance-driven growth" strategy of building skills by directly interacting with fans on stage. In doing so, they built a core fandom.
In particular, the pre-debut "Hooligan" challenge content drew attention when BTS member Jungkook personally reposted it, pushing views past 1 million. Having earned the endorsement of a global pop star and proven their performance skills, expectations for this debut song have reached a peak.
The finally revealed debut song "SUGAR RUSH" is a track that highlights GENUS's bright, refreshing energy and lively atmosphere. It features a catchy melody anyone can easily sing along to, and the released performance music video showcases the five members' dynamic energy and distinctive teamwork.
GENUS boasts a "complete visual" with all members standing at least 178 cm and including members who came from boy group audition programs. Their excellent vocal ability honed through long-term live performances and their relaxed stage manners are also powerful assets unique to them.
Now embarking on full activities, GENUS will once again begin extended performances in Japan starting on the 29th, continuing a "on-site focused" global approach. The agency JUST FOCUS said, "'SUGAR RUSH' will be a milestone that shows GENUS's present and future," and added, "We plan to prove GENUS's distinct trajectory through various channels going forward."<
