The group CORTIS cemented its rise as a mainstream force by topping global music charts.
CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhun, Sunghyun, Geonho)'s mini album 2 title track "REDRED" reached No. 1 on Apple Music's "Today's Top 100: Korea" chart dated April 26. The song first entered the chart at No. 72 on the chart dated the 21st, the day after its release, rose to No. 17 on the 22nd, No. 10 on the 23rd, No. 3 on the 24th, and No. 2 on the 25th, tracing a steep upward curve day after day before finally clinching the top spot. It appeared on "Today's Top 100" in a total of 20 countries and regions, including Taiwan (No. 4), China (No. 15), Thailand (No. 23) and Russia (No. 70), proving the formidable firepower of its global fandom.
Their performance on global audio and music streaming platform Spotify has also been striking. "REDRED" landed at No. 135 on the "Daily Top Songs Global" chart dated the 25th, marking its fourth consecutive day in the rankings. That chart is a key indicator of global pop music trends; among K-pop boy groups this year, only BTS, ENHYPEN and CORTIS have entered this chart. In addition, the song ranked No. 2 on QQ Music's "New Songs Chart" dated the 26th and No. 8 on the "Rising Chart," and it has been steadily showing its presence on South Korea's Bugs daily chart as well.
The driving force behind this explosive rise in music performance is their overwhelming performances proven on music shows. From the 23rd, CORTIS appeared on major music shows over four days and reproduced the street backgrounds from the music video—traffic lights, crosswalks and pedestrian overpasses—on stage to perfectly express the song's distinctive rough texture. Along with unwavering live skills, the intuitive signature choreography called the "parang-gwi dance," in which both arms cross and both hands are shaken beside the ears, blended with raw energy to fully captivate viewers. In fact, the Mnet "M Countdown" stage video surpassed 1 million YouTube views within three days of its release, proving its hot buzz.
Now in its second week since the comeback, CORTIS is keeping the momentum with a wider range of activities. In addition to appearing on major music shows this week, the members will sequentially release an original music video version shot by them and behind-the-scenes production footage to showcase their unique capabilities as a "young creator crew." On the 30th, they will also offer a friendly charm through the YouTube web variety show "The Silence of Stones."
Meanwhile, CORTIS's mini album 2 "GREENGREEN," which sparked a buzz with its pre-release track, will be officially released across all music platforms at 6 p.m. on May 4. At 8 p.m. on the day of release, they will hold the "GREENGREEN Release Party" at S Factory in Seongdong District, Seoul, and debut dynamic live performances of all the album tracks.
