The girl group I.O.I (I.O.I) released a tracklist for their new album that highlights the members' active participation in songwriting, marking the start of the countdown to their comeback.
I.O.I (Lim Nayoung, Chung Ha, Kim Se-jeong, Jung Chaeyeon, Kim So-Hye, Yoo Yeon-jeong, Choi Yu-jeong, Kim Doyeon, Jeon Somi) posted an image of the tracklist for their third mini album I.O.I : LOOP on their official social media channels at 12 a.m. on the 27th. The tracklist, set against a sentimental pink background with stylish typography, lists credits for a total of six songs. This new release deepens its meaning as an album that traverses the shining moments in which emotions that had been dormant over the past 10 years reconnect.
The title track, Suddenly, is a synth-pop song that delicately expresses waves of longing that rush in without warning. In particular, member Jeon Somi participated in writing the lyrics, authentically capturing the tenderness of a relationship encountered again. The lyrical words that lead listeners back to past times and the richly lingering later-stage sound come together perfectly to offer a deep sense of immersion.
Beyond the title track, members' touches are present throughout the album, illuminating the meaning of their 10th anniversary. Along with IOI (Where My Girls At), a pop dance song featuring Jeon Somi that captures the group's distinctive vitality, the album includes IF I, featuring Yoo Yeon-jeong and unfolding steadfast relationships with a powerful rock sound, and the ballad That Time, Us Now, featuring Chung Ha, which matures the narrative of the earlier song Sonagi. Taken together, these tracks showcase the members' markedly grown musical capabilities.
Also, SPF 100+ (Summer Pop Fantasy), an Afrobeats track that wittily evokes dazzling summer memories, injects varied energy into the album. Above all, the final track, Farewell with a Smile, draws attention as Jinyoung, a producer formerly of B1A4 who worked with I.O.I in the past, oversaw the production. As an archive recording that restores the members' fresh voices from the 2016 sessions, it is expected to deliver a poignant emotional impact to fans who have long awaited I.O.I's full reunion.
Meanwhile, celebrating their 10th anniversary with a glamorous return, I.O.I will begin warming up for their comeback by releasing a pre-release single on May 4. They will then officially release their third mini album I.O.I : LOOP at 6 p.m. on May 19, and will continue welcoming fans with a solo concert that opens their Asia tour at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Songpa-gu, Seoul, for three days from May 29 to 31.
