Actor Kim Jeong-tae directly confessed why he continued filming even while battling liver cancer.
Recently TV CHOSUN's "Dad and I" released a preview video titled "Dad Kim Jeong-tae's liver cancer test."
The released video showed Kim Jeong-tae visiting a university hospital, having blood drawn, and undergoing a CT scan. Kim Jeong-tae said, "Our family's liver is a bit weak. That's why I had liver cancer surgery." According to Kim Jeong-tae, it developed around Oct. 2018 and he had liver cancer surgery in Nov.
Having experienced cirrhosis three times earlier, Kim Jeong-tae said, "After the movie 'Friend' ended, I filmed a movie called 'The Pirates Become the Disco King,' but even if I was sick I couldn't speak up for fear of being cut," and "I overdid action practice so much that my abdomen filled with ascites."
Kim Jeong-tae continued, "When I was filming the movie 'Ddonggae' it recurred, so I hid it and filmed. After filming 'Ddonggae,' during a stage greeting my mother came and when she greeted the director she cried so much. It's because she saw me fight (in the movie)."
A mother's tears upon seeing her son, who suffered through filming action scenes despite poor health, on the screen. In response, MC Han Hye-jin said, "(Your mother) knows the condition you were in while filming. He really went through a lot. It must have been very hard."
