Broadcaster Seo Kyung-seok recounted anecdotes of betrayal and fraud he experienced in childhood.
On the 27th, Seo Kyung-seok grants KBS2's 'Malja Show' and opened up about his story.
Seo Kyung-seok, a Seoul National University graduate comedian who drew attention as the first entertainer to score a perfect score on the Korean history proficiency test, said he was a "pseudo-smart" person, sparking curiosity.
Seo Kyung-seok said, "You may think I have walked a smooth path, but I had financial difficulties since childhood, and when I became an adult I was betrayed and defrauded by a younger sibling I trusted, so it was not all smooth. I came because I wanted to open up and empathize about those stories," he said, arousing curiosity.
Seo Kyung-seok said, "There were several times I was betrayed by friends I met in society who felt like younger siblings. They treated me so well and I cherished them, but they said, 'If I only had this money I would be fine; if I don't have it I feel like I'll die,' so I reluctantly lent it to them, but I lost both the money and the people. Relationships seem to be the most important thing in life."
He continued, "I think I had a strange sense of responsibility. When I formed a relationship I felt I had to solve everything for that person, so after appearing on a program I received the prescription from Dr. Oh Eun-young: 'Seo Kyung-seok, you are arrogant. Let go of the idea that you can solve everything yourself.' I realized reality then, and since then I never do that. That made my relationships healthier and closer," he said.
An audience member spoke about difficulties with a senior. In response, Seo Kyung-seok said, "When I was a rookie the seniors seemed like the sky. When I debuted, Lee Kyung-gyu, Lee Kyung-sil, Lim Ha Ryong, and Lee Hong-ryeol were stars among stars. But they are surprisingly lonely. Around a very bright star, the smaller stars are not visible, so it is lonely. Approaching more, asking, and offering a small cup of coffee with feeling can open their hearts. So even though they really seem like the sky, I approached them and have gotten along well to this day. Rather, they are pleased when someone approaches and seeks them out," he advised.
In particular, Seo Kyung-seok said he believed Park Myung Soo would succeed among his peers. He said, "When I gained popularity a little earlier with Lee Yun-seok, Park Myung Soo was relatively struggling, but I thought he would make it. Even as a rookie he would scold others. So even though he got scolded a lot, I thought if he met the right era he would shine, and now he has become a giant star."
He added, "Park Myung Soo is very diligent. People criticize him as stingy, but he is someone who doesn't waste money. He was really diligent, and at the time when we were doing nightclub events, he worked so hard that among us there was a saying: 'Even if Park Myung Soo's socks get a hole, his night work won't be missed.'"
