A tragic accident occurred in which a staff member installing the stage ahead of pop star Shakira's large-scale concert in Brazil died.
According to a report by the Daily Mail on the 27th (local time), a staff member assembling the stage structure for Shakira's free concert on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro last Sunday afternoon died in an accident.
The festival organizing Commissioner 'Todo Mundo no Rio' confirmed the sad news through its official social media. The organizers said emergency treatment was administered on site immediately and the fire department urgently transported the injured person to the hospital, but unfortunately the person died at the hospital, and they said they are currently providing full support and condolences to the bereaved family and the team involved.
The circumstances of the accident were horrific. Local fire authorities said, based on witness statements, that the victim became trapped in the stage lifting system and suffered severe crushing injuries to the lower body.
The accident occurred just before Shakira was due to take the stage as the headliner of the festival in Rio de Janeiro this Saturday, making it even more shocking.
