'Boss's ears are donkey ears' Jun Hyun-moo revealed the standard for wedding gifts.
On the 26th, KBS2's 'Boss's ears are donkey ears' showed announcers Um Ji-in and Kim Jin-woong touring wedding venues with announcer Nam Hyun-jong.
Nam Hyun-jong is set to marry a person working in the construction industry who is two years younger this coming Nov. After finishing a tour of modern wedding halls, the three visited a hanok wedding hall to try out a special wedding held in a hanok's outdoor courtyard. Although there was a condition of residing in Seoul, the free rental fee and support for supplies were attractive, and Um Ji-in explained, "Nam Hyun-jong suffered a 60 million won jeonse scam, so we considered the budget."
Um Ji-in, who had an outdoor wedding at the KoreaFurniture Museum, also strongly recommended it, and they further talked while enjoying a medicinal herb foot bath experience to soothe their tired feet from the venue tour.
The topic of wedding gifts came up amid this. Kim Jin-woong said he attended up to seven times in a month at most, and they agreed it was hard to decide on gift amounts given that venue meals have also become expensive. Um Ji-in advised, "From the recipient's perspective, I'm grateful just that people take the time to come. If you want to recoup what you spent, choose a venue that fits your budget, and if it's the wedding venue you want, don't worry about the gift money."
Nam Hyun-jong also wanted items such as a robot vacuum and a dishwasher on his wishlist. In response, Um Ji-in said since the rental fee was free and Nam Hyun-jong didn't attend her wedding, 50,000 won would be enough. Jun Hyun-moo said it should be over 100,000 won, and Park Myung Soo suggested it should exceed 300,000 won. Um Ji-in hesitated, saying, "I've never seen a salaried worker give 300,000 won," and finally decided on 200,000 won.
Kim Sook said, "There was someone who tried to give 10 million won as a wedding gift. Choi Kang-hee, Song Eun I, Lee Young-ja, Choi Hwa-jung, and Park So-hyun are all not doing it. If they all do it at once, my entire fortune would be gone." Jun Hyun-moo said, "I once gave 5 million won. It was for someone I was very grateful to. I don't remember who. I gave up on getting it back. I spread so much that altogether it amounts to the 100 million won range. Also, someone married twice, and for remarriage I give a bit less," which drew laughter.
Nam Hyun-jong's worries continued. On how far he should send invitations, Um Ji-in said, "Giving an invitation feels like you definitely want them to come, but these days there are mobile invitations, so if you are close, it's good to send them to inform them of the marriage." Um Ji-in also advised that sending invitations helps tidy up one's network, and Jun Hyun-moo agreed.
Meanwhile, Jun Hyun-moo previously said on the show that because it's not easy to book wedding venues these days, he would get married on the third Friday of May 2027. He said, "There is no small in my vocabulary. It will definitely be a big-size wedding. Since I have long awaited it, I'll serve wine and spare nothing," and added, "It will definitely be a public wedding; I'll invite all the media across the country to hold the ceremony." This raised expectations as Jung Ho-young's fish-gut disassembly show, Jung Ji-seon's pass show, and Park Myung Soo's congratulatory song were reserved.
