Comedian Lee Kyung-sil spoke out about the egg controversy.

Lee Kyung-sil said she has been debuting for nearly 40 years. Comedian Choi Seong-min opened by saying, "She has been around that long, but there have really been a lot of controversies."
Then he asked, "Was the egg incident properly resolved?" In response, Lee Kyung-sil said, "The thing about eggs itself is mistaken. Lee Kyung-sil said, "In fact, public opinion once made it seem as if I had defrauded people with some kind of egg, but that supplier is an old acquaintance of mine. He is someone who, in his life, has studied egg feed for about a third of his life. So those eggs are very excellent."
She continued, "They are excellent, but because of the shell code it turned out that way, and in fact I provided him with business funds. He said he wanted to do an online business but it was a bit difficult, so I lent him money, and he suggested we be co-CEOs together. I said, 'Oh, I don't like things like that,' and at the time my son had just come out of TV CHOSUN's "A lover of Chosun" and was doing things like driving for hire. Then he said, 'How about putting your son up as a co-CEO together?'"
She added, "When I thought about it quietly, there was no reason for me to refuse. Even if it doesn't make money now, I thought it could make money for my son later. And about two years passed. I didn't ask those people at all how the business was going; what they did for us was send eggs to me, and not only I ate them but I also sent them to my acquaintances, including Cho Hye-lyeon. When Hye-lyeon tried them and was grateful, she posted them on Instagram."
But controversy erupted. Lee Kyung-sil said, "'This shell code is number 4, so did you take this money?' But I can say confidently that even large corporations sell eggs with shell code number 4 for higher prices than that. The feed is very excellent. My son entered the military and is the representative of an egg company. People attacked me saying that a soldier shouldn't run a business and make a profit. But I'm very sorry, but to this day not a single won has entered our son's bank account. Because our son's bank account never received money, he was investigated by the Ministry of National Defense due to the public opinion while he was in the military and was found not guilty. And ultimately that online business closed. But I am still eating those eggs well."
Earlier, Lee Kyung-sil was embroiled in controversy after it became known that she was selling eggs at prices higher than their shell codes would suggest. The eggs sold by Lee Kyung-sil were priced at a consumer price of 15,000 won for a tray of 30. The problem was that the shell code of the product shown in the released photo was revealed to be "number 4."
The price of the eggs sold by Lee Kyung-sil became controversial because they corresponded to "shell code number 1" or were even more expensive. In response, the company said, "If you produce eggs, you should recognize and respect that every shell code has value regardless of its number," and explained, "Our animal welfare section's higher price is due to better environment and respect for the animals, not because of better quality," which drew backlash from netizens.
