Novelist the late Lee Oi-su passed away four years ago.
The late Lee Oi-su died on Apr. 25, 2022. He was 76.
At the time, the bereaved family directly announced the death on the deceased's social media. The deceased's eldest son said, "On the evening of the 25th, our beloved father passed away. Surrounded by family members at his deathbed, he did not leave alone. He closed his eyes peacefully, as if catching up on missed sleep. As the founder of enduring, he worked very hard on rehabilitation, but it is so sad that he could not return to your sides and answered heaven's call."
He conveyed his grief, saying, "Even now it feels like if we wake him he would get up, but he is sleeping so deeply we cannot do that. There are beloved names who went before him there, and those people will surely welcome him. The prayers you sent would have filled his heart with love, so he will be able to embrace with a warm heart."
The late Lee Oi-su visited a hospital in Oct. 2014 for stomach bleeding and was diagnosed with stage 2 stomach cancer, continuing his battle. After surgery he underwent chemotherapy and finished treatment around June 2015, but later developed pneumothorax and even breast cancer. Even in such circumstances, the late Lee Oi-su revealed a bright daily life and gave hope to cancer patients.
However, in Mar. 2020, he suddenly collapsed from a cerebral hemorrhage and received inpatient treatment. Afterwards his eldest son posted on social media that the late Lee Oi-su was gradually regaining health through rehabilitation, but in Mar. 2022 he developed pneumonia as a aftereffect of COVID-19 and his health rapidly deteriorated. He received intensive care in the emergency room but ultimately passed away on the evening of Apr. 25.
The late Lee Oi-su wrote various poetry collections, essays and novels, including "Love side story," "Absolute strongman," "Master, sir," "Single horn," "Stray dog," "Fool fool," and "Haak haak," and was active as a writer.
