Pop star Katy Perry was accused of sexual assault by an actress and was identified as an alleged perpetrator by another male colleague.
On the 24th (local time), Page Six reported that actor Josh Kloss, who appeared with Katy Perry in the "Teenage Dream" music video, claimed that Perry exposed his body parts without consent at the time.
Josh Kloss said that 14 years ago, Katy Perry exposed his body parts without his consent at a party and that he has lived with the trauma since then. He said, "It is not easy to bring up something that may seem unimportant to many people," and added, "It is important to have the courage to come forward and explain it yourself."
According to Josh Kloss, he appeared as Perry's counterpart in the "Teenage Dream" music video filmed in July 2010 in Santa Barbara, California, and the two became close during the shoot. Two years later, he was invited to the birthday party of Perry's long-time costume designer and stylist.
When he arrived at the party venue with a friend, Perry, who was with a small group, greeted them warmly, and at the moment he was introducing his friend, he claimed that Perry pulled at his pants and underwear, exposing his private parts. Later, in August 2019 he wrote on social media, "Can you imagine how miserable and ashamed I felt then?"
In the interview, Josh Kloss said, "I went into a panic state," and added, "Perry just laughed it off. That is the key. Some people see pulling someone's pants down at a party as a joke, but I want to make it clear that what I experienced was not that."
He also said, "Simply pulling down someone's pants would have been humiliating enough," and stressed, "It was not a relationship where it could be laughed off playfully (with Katy Perry)."
Kloss said he made the matter public because, "For a long time people have said that those lucky enough to gain great opportunities thanks to famous stars have reached their limit," and added, "The person I should be grateful to completely belittled and humiliated me in front of those closest to me." He said he disclosed the matter not to punish Katy Perry but to protect his own mental stability.
Katy Perry has earlier been accused of sexual assault by actress Ruby Rose, causing controversy. Ruby Rose, known for the drama Orange Is the New Black, claimed on her social media that she was sexually assaulted by Katy Perry at a club in Melbourne, Australia.
Ruby Rose said, "Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at the Spice Market club in Melbourne," claiming that when she was in her 20s and resting with her head on a friend's knee, Perry approached, slid Rose's underwear aside and rubbed her body part on Rose's face. Rose added, "I was so shocked I opened my eyes and vomited on her."
Katy Perry's side said in response, "The allegations Ruby Rose is spreading are not only clearly false but dangerous and irresponsible lies."
Katy Perry has a daughter with actor Orlando Bloom, and after their breakup she is romantically linked with Canada's former prime minister Justin Trudeau.
