Comedian Jang Do-youn revealed the possibility of being a voluntary single mother.
In episode 3 of the tvN variety show "Gugidong Friends," which aired on the 24th, a scene showed cohabiting friends eating together, and Jang Do-youn drew attention by mentioning voluntary single motherhood.
That day Choi Daniel asked, "Don't you hear people tell you to get married when you visit your parents' house for the holidays?" to Jang Do-youn and Lee Da-hee. Jang Do-youn opened up, saying, "There was none of that pressure. Not even once did they give me hints."
He confessed, "The atmosphere was like, 'You can handle it yourself,' but after turning 40 it subtly becomes, 'Really? You don't have one? You must have someone. You will.'"
Lee Da-hee said, "My parents actually tell me that if I want to live alone, then live alone. But my mother did say, 'If there were a child who looked like you, they would have been pretty; it's a shame,'" she said.
At that moment Jang Do-youn burst out laughing and confessed, "Recently I was surprised by my mother. I asked, 'What would life be like raising and bringing up a child?' Then my mother said that if I wanted to, she would help raise the child together."
In response Choi Daniel asked again, "So are you saying that even if you don't marry, you should have a child?" and Jang Do-youn explained, "Like Sun-yi (Sayuri). My mother said to me, 'Let's try.' But that felt oddly reassuring."
