Comedian Jeong Cheol-gyu, who received great affection for "Blanca," mentioned a message he received from a fan.
On the afternoon of the 24th, Jeong Cheol-gyu told OSEN in a phone interview his reflections after announcing a new start the previous day on MBN "Special Scoop."
Previously, Jeong Cheol-gyu performed the character of a foreign worker named "Blanca" on KBS "Gag Concert," creating the national catchphrase "Boss, you're mean." At that time, in addition to winning the rookie award at an awards ceremony, the widely popular Jeong Cheol-gyu said he fell into severe depression from the pressure of his next project.
In addition, Jeong Cheol-gyu said he went into seclusion after not receiving any settlement for advertising income due to settlement issues with his former agency, and he naturally drifted away from broadcasting. In particular, he confessed that although he filmed a bus advertisement for 3,500,000 won and a radio advertisement for 2,000,000 won, there was no settlement, and at minimum he earned 47,500 won a month.
Regarding this, Jeong Cheol-gyu opened up, "After watching yesterday's (23rd) broadcast, I received a lot of contacts from acquaintances. The messages were like, 'It's good to see you; it looks like you've been trying to live sincerely' and similar. Also, an unfamiliar person in their 60s sent a message saying, 'I was a fan, and you'll do well.'"
Despite a busy schedule, Jeong Cheol-gyu carved out time to do the interview. He returned from Vietnam early in the morning and held the interview immediately after finishing a local schedule.
When told that he might have had a little more leeway if there had been no settlement conflict with his former agency, he confessed, "I'm 47 this year, and until I was 33 or 34 I used to think, 'Ah, back then I...' or 'If only I had done that then.' But now I don't think that even 0.1% at all. I am happier and more excited about this moment and the future."
He added, "I even thought about death, and having lived that kind of life, I'm not very afraid anymore."
