On the 24th, the 644th episode of MBC variety show I Live Alone (hereinafter I Live Alone) aired, showing Ku Sung-hwan walking 446 km from Seoul to Busan while remembering his pet dog Kkot-bun who crossed the rainbow bridge.
That day, Ku Sung-hwan and his partner completed the final day of the national trek. The two moved while calculating the remaining kilometers to their destination, Gwangalli Beach. The closer they got to Gwangalli, the more Ku Sung-hwan made a pained expression, saying "my legs aren't listening."
He kissed Kkot-bun's leash and mustered his last strength, and eventually collapsed onto the sand at the arrived Gwangalli Beach. Ku Sung-hwan pulled out his phone and burst into tears, saying "I haven't been able to watch it even once since that day, the video."
Calming down shortly after, Ku Sung-hwan looked up at the sky and said to Kkot-bun, "You went well, right? See you later. Have fun with your friends." In a later interview with the production team, he said, "Actually, I didn't think the emotions would come up. The place where I used to run and play with Kkot-bun is right next to me, and looking at that, after that friend left my emotions were fully released over two months and I think I cried," openly sharing and drawing empathy.
Meanwhile, after completing the 446 km national trek, Ku Sung-hwan said, "What felt good was that I kept my promise with Kkot-bun for 17 days. Just being able to say the name Kkot-bun with my own mouth made me feel much better," and added that he hoped everyone who has experienced loss would overcome sorrow in healthy ways.
